Valentine's Day has turned out to be very grim day for lovers in many parts of the country. There have been many instances of young couples being beaten up, humiliated and some of them have even been forcibly married off by the moral police.
Jind,Haryana: A sub-inspector publicly beat up a couple and even dragged the girl to the police station by her hair. Later, on reaching the police station he could not figure out what charges to press, so he meted out more punishment. The cop has now been suspended.
Ujjain,Madhya Pradesh: A brother and sister face the ire of the moral police. Bajrang Dal activists brutally assaulted them assuming them to be lovers. Police posted at the university campus rushed in and brought the situation under control; however no FIR has been registered
Pune,Maharashtra: Shiv Sainiks forcibly married off two couples sitting in a park. Reports say other couples present in the park managed to escape before they faced a similar fate.
Sangli,Maharashtra: Shiv Sainiks seemed to think love is frankly asinine, so they married off this young man to a donkey.
Ranchi,Jharkhand: The moral brigade made young Romeos to sit ups as punishment for love.
